Driving for a company such as Uber may be an effective way to increase your income. However, there is always the risk that your vehicle may be involved in a collision while transporting passengers to various destinations. In many cases, the steps that you take after an accident in Florida are similar whether you’re driving for Uber or for personal reasons.
What to do after an accident
The first thing that you’ll want to do is remain at the scene, assess yourself for injuries and call the police. While waiting for assistance, you can take pictures, seek out witnesses or gather other forms of evidence that might prove that you weren’t at fault for causing the wreck. You will also want to contact Uber about the accident as soon as possible. The final step in the aftermath of a crash is to visit a doctor or other medical professional for treatment.
Compensation may be available
In the event that the accident wasn’t your fault, the other driver’s insurance company will likely be responsible for any costs incurred in its aftermath. If the other driver doesn’t have insurance, you may be able to file a claim with your own provider if you have uninsured/underinsured coverage.
